  • Scott Abbotts

    Project Manager

Project manager, estimator, and pump installer Scott Abbotts has been with Goodwin Well & Water since 2004. With an associate’s degree in architectural engineering, a bachelor’s degree in construction management, and a master’s degree in business administration, Scott is as comfortable on a work site collaborating with general contractors and engineers as he is in the office leading staff. A veritable jack-of-all-trades, Scott is also highly capable when it comes to technology. As the resident IT guru at Goodwin Well, Scott developed the company’s proprietary software – The Standing Column Well Design Tool. The only one of its kind, this software performs the complex set of calculations required to arrive at the optimal design for each residential Standing Column Well, taking into account the unique characteristics and requirements of each customer’s situation. Scott is determined to achieve optimal efficiency and performance for his customer’s standing column wells – both for traditional water wells and geo-exchange systems. And he developed the software to do just that. This software and the expertise of Scott and his team allow Goodwin Well & Water to do what most other Maine well drillers cannot: install one water well – a Standing Column well – and pump system, which will provide both geo-exchange and potable water. The result? A significant reduction in initial construction costs for homes that need a private water well. Scott’s impressive resume includes numerous licenses and certifications in the well drilling field. He is: a Maine Master Pump Installer with Open Loop Endorsement; a Maine Apprentice Well Driller; an International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) Accredited Installer; Loop Link Geothermal Designer Certified: OSHA 10-hour Certified; and Pipe Fusion Certified. Scott regularly presents his expertise at training sessions offered by the Maine Rural Water and Maine Groundwater Associations. Scott’s professional experience includes a decade of work in the Boston area serving as project managers and construction superintendents for well-known construction companies, such as Metric Construction Corp., in Brighton, Mass., and Alexandra Construction in Newton. He received his associate’s degree in architectural engineering and his bachelor’s degree in construction management from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. He earned his MBA at the University of Southern Maine.
